Prior to accepting the Middle School Principal position, Mr. Scoggins served as the Assistant High School Principal in the Milton Are School District for five years. During his tenure as Assistant Principal, Milton Area High School oversaw a sustained decline in drop-out rate and an increased graduation rate in at-risk students. Additionally, Mr. Scoggins reinforced the district initiative of data driven decision making in the High School by creating and supervising a High School data team. This data team laid the foundation for data driven decisions in all classrooms 9-12. Mr. Scoggins came to Milton Area School District in the 2004-2005 school year from Virginia to become the Auxiliary High School teacher for the Milton Area School District. This position focused on at-risk students and reducing the district drop-out rate. Mr. Scoggins was highly effective in reducing the drop-out rate by more than 50% in both the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 school years.
Mr. Scoggins earned a Master’s of Science in Education Administration in 2003 from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Scoggins received his Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2000 from Troy University in Dothan, Alabama. Prior to completing his undergraduate degree, Mr. Scoggins served his country in the United States Navy from 1994-1998 as an active duty E-5 Torpedoman aboard the USS Simpson FFG-56.
Mr. Scoggins graduated from Dothan High School in Dothan, Alabama, and he is the son of Mr. Thomas and Paula Knight of Dothan, Alabama. Mr. Scoggins is married to Rebel J. Scoggins, an alumnus of the Milton Area School District. Mrs. Scoggins serves as a math coach for the district at Baugher Elementary. Mrs. Scoggins is the daughter of Bob and Diana Wesner, of New Columbia, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Wesner is a former teacher in the Milton Area School District. Mr. and Mrs. Scoggins have two children, Camden and Brodey, who are enrolled in the Milton Area School District.
