If you qualified for free or reduced lunch last year in our district, you will be temporarily approved day one of this school year. However, you must fill out a new application every year.
All schools use a point-of-sale computer to track meal sales. All students are automatically set up with an account. This system tracks all deposits and deducts purchases. Your student food service number will remain the same from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
In order to keep the serving line moving, we encourage you to send cash or check to be deposited into your account. You can do this daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. However, we prefer you deposit on Monday, at least enough for one week of school meals. Obviously, depositing money daily into your account will be very time consuming. We discourage all students from carrying money daily. The system is designed to be cashless so no money changes hands on the serving line.
Envelopes are provided for deposits at the elementary level. Please fill out the entire envelope and deposit at the office of your school or give to the cashier prior to lunch.
Students can check balances at any time. Students will be notified through the lunch line when their account balance is low and they need to bring in more money. At the elementary level, the cashier will give them an empty envelope, this is a sign that the account is low. You can help by paying attention to your deposits and gauging when it is time to replenish your child's account. You can also call the Food Service Office at 742-7687 and we can check that balance at anytime.
The new system is capable of blocking out certain services that you do not wish your student to participate in such as breakfast or ala carte items. Please notify the Food Service Office at 742-7687 if this becomes an issue.
At year end, all balances will be rolled over for the start of the school year.
Students eligible for free meals will be automatically loaded in the system. This will allow one breakfast and one lunch per day. If you wish your student to purchase ala carte items, you will need to deposit money into your account.
Students eligible for reduced meals will be automatically coded in the system and will need to deposit money monthly.
